• Think Pink for Sophie Day (29th March)

There was a 'Think Pink for Sophie' day at the nursery yesterday. It was quite surreal seeing everyone walking around dressed in pink......even some of the Daddy's had made an effort and were wearing pink shirts!

We held a cake sale at pick-up time and another big thank-you to Cathryn Marsh & Claire Torbett who organised it and helped out selling the cakes and to Natalie's Mum, who baked 100 cakes for us to sell! Also a mention to Cathryn's workplace who also chose to wear pink...... and there was also mention of some pink boxer shorts although we have not got photographic proof of this!

The event raised £214 pounds and this is to be pound matched so will be double the amount to add to Sophie's fund.

Thank you to all the parents and staff that came to buy the cakes!

  • Huge apologies!

Firstly, i just want to apologise for not updating the blog lately. Things have just been so manic and i just haven't had 5 minutes to myself to get the blog updated. I'm going to make a conscious effort to try and update it on a more regular basis!

So much has been happening since i last updated here and although it may be a little out of order, i will eventually catch-up with everything that has been going on.

Myself, Terry and Sophie were asked to attend an assembly at Essendene Lodge School where the pupils have completed a sponsored spell-a-thon. They raised an amazing £900 towards Sophie's appeal and we are very grateful for their efforts. We couldn't have done it without Claire Torbett as she initially contacted the school and has dealt with them right up to arranging the assembly........a 'thank-you' doesn't seem enough but i don't know what else to say! This will be covered in the local newspaper but here is a photo of me, Sophie and Mrs Ali receiving the cheque.

  • 10k Run (Kenley)

Following on from the Zumbathon on Saturday, we went to support Robbie Skipper on Sunday who completed a 10K run in aid of Small Steps for Sophie.

We met Robbie when we were doing a bag-packing event at Morrisons, he then contacted us to say that he wanted to do this run for Sophie. What i didn't realise until Sunday, is that Robbie has only just took up running........and he did a great job of completing the run in 50 minutes!!

Thank you to all his friends and family, who we had not met previously, for making us feel so welcome!!

Robbie is hopeful that when all the sponsorship money comes in, that he will raise in the region of £500......we can not thank you enough!!

I've added a couple of photo's of Robbie (one before the race started and the other when he is sprinting to the finish line!!)

Well done for your achievement, Robbie!

  • Zumbathon (part 2!)

I've received this photo from Kevin Black at the County Border News.........a lovely photo of Sophie and her Mummy just before we started our Zumba Class. Sophie enjoyed it so much that she has now said that she wants to go to Zumba every week.........can't wait for the future to see her do it without her frame!!

Also forgot to mention in the previous post, a massive 'thank-you' to Tracey Read who took on the Zumbathon as a 'project' and organised it all!! :-)

  • Zumbathon (28th Jan)

We've had a busy fundraising weekend!

First, we had the Zumbathon. Thank you to everyone that turned up to support Small Steps for Sophie.....every single one of you have helped my little girl get closer to her dream of being able to walk.

Of course, we couldn't have done it without the help of the 'other' Sophie, who taught the class.... thank you so much!

Due to the support of everybody that was there, we made £650 on the day and we will hopefully have another £1000 in sponsor money...woo hoo!!

I've attached photo's of the 2 Sophie's (who were certainly colour co-ordinated!) and one of my Sophie doing 'Zumba' in her frame!
